Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona

Sometimes, low expectations make room for the biggest surprises. I expected to like this model. I did not expect it to be one of the most accomplished brick-built cars I have encountered. The Ferrari 365 Daytona belongs to one of the great periods of Italian automotive design. Born from the long relationship between Ferrari and Pininfarina, its appeal comes from proportion rather than decoration: a long bonnet, a cabin pushed far back and an almost impossibly elegant silhouette. Pininfarina has always described its philosophy as a balance of aesthetics and technical reasoning, and more than half a century later, that clarity still feels remarkably modern. BlueBrixx translates that character into bricks far better than I expected.

The construction is outstanding. Dense, intelligent and incredibly deliberate. There is virtually no empty space hidden beneath the bodywork. Even the floor is completely built with SNOT techniques, seamless and pitch black. No colourful orientation aids, no shortcuts, no saving pieces where they cannot be seen. Just construction for the sake of construction. Some solutions genuinely reminded me of the best Moonrock MOCs in Speed Champions scale. Even the striped seat pattern is engineered with SNOT and Technic rather than simply suggested on the surface. It is the kind of building where you regularly stop to understand what you have just assembled. And that density has a purpose. The finished Daytona is exceptionally solid. This is also very much a set for experienced builders and purists. No numbered building stages. No printed manual. Very little hand-holding. You are expected to pay attention, think ahead and understand the structure as it develops. I love that.

It should be said that this level is not representative of every BlueBrixx model. The Testarossa sitting beside it in some of these images was considerably more demanding on patience and never reaches the same structural or visual resolution. But this Daytona? Exceptional. A model for building purists, for admirers of Italian design, and for anyone with a weakness for the restrained elegance of late mid-century aesthetics. I expected very little. I got one of my favourite automotive builds.
